“Making Flowers From Waste” Brings the Partnership Together in Poland
Fundacja GAMA hosted the project's second major activity, where partners turned egg cartons, cardboard, bottles and newspaper into flowers, wet-felted a flower runner together, and closed with an exhibition and certificates.
In early August 2026, Fundacja GAMA hosted the second major activity of the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project "Empowering Adults with Disabilities with Flowers Made from Waste" in Dąbrowa Białostocka, Poland, welcoming participants and educators from KICK (Austria), ARTİKA (Türkiye) and Asociația Zona Integrare Europeana (Romania).
Building on the waste-classification work begun in Buzau, the programme opened with training sessions in which participants sorted recycling cards, matched everyday waste to the right bins and discussed the waste hierarchy. Each partner organisation also presented its work to the group.
In the hands-on workshops, working groups turned egg cartons, cardboard, plastic bottles and rolled newspaper into flowers — from a wreath of red egg-carton blossoms to cardboard flower stands and newspaper-stemmed blooms. A felting workshop added a new technique: together, participants laid out and wet-felted a long woollen runner decorated with bright felt flowers.
The finished pieces, alongside felted flowers, scarves and garments, were put on display in an exhibition. Partners also visited a local centre to see its craft and weaving rooms, and explored Białystok, including the Branicki Palace.
The activity closed with a certificate ceremony at Fundacja GAMA. The flower-making techniques will be documented for the project's intellectual output, a multilingual digital guide led by AZIE (Romania). Photos and videos from the week are in the project gallery.
The partnership will meet again for the closing "Conclusion & Evaluation" meeting, hosted by KICK in Dornbirn, Austria, in February 2027.
