Grouping and Design for Recycling Waste Successfully Completed in Romania
Impaired adults and educators from all four partner countries gathered in Buzau for a six-day workshop on waste classification, environmental safety, and the first flower designs from waste.
The first major activity of the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project "Empowering Adults with Disabilities with Flowers Made from Waste" was successfully hosted by Asociația Zona Integrare Europeana (AZIE) in Buzau, Romania, from 18 to 23 February 2026.
Over six days, more than 20 impaired adults and 20 educators from KICK (Austria), ARTİKA (Türkiye) and Fundacja GAMA (Poland) took part in sessions on greenhouse gases and climate change, the importance of waste classification, and the contribution of recycling and flower-making to the mental development of impaired adults.
Participants collected environmentally safe waste materials in collaboration with the Romanian partner, learning to distinguish recyclable from non-recyclable materials and to identify hazardous versus non-hazardous items. In the final days, creative groups designed the first flower sketches from waste, which will be documented for the project's intellectual output.
Pre- and post-event surveys assessed participant expectations and outcomes, feeding into the project's quality monitoring process led by KICK (Austria).
The next activity, "Making Flowers From Waste," will be hosted by Fundacja GAMA in Dąbrowa Białostocka, Poland, in June 2026.
